What we collect
We respect the right to privacy of all visitors to the UCI Health website and the various UCI Health mobile applications (apps). We do not collect information that would personally identify you unless you choose to provide it.
There are two types of information we collect on this website:
1. Personally identifiable information
In some instances, UCI Health collects personally identifiable information (such as email address, name, phone number, etc.) through this website and mobile apps. This information is only collected when volunteered by the user – for example, when completing a form to register for a class, subscribe to a newsletter or register for a mobile app.
2. Non-personally identifiable information
This website and these mobile apps also collect non-personally identifiable user information, such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, cookies, Internet tags and navigational data. This information is used for system management and to improve the content and navigation of the site.
We do not match personally identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information. In other words, we do not link personal information (for example, your name and location) with visit information, such as pages visited or files downloaded. In effect, all such visit information is anonymous.
Personal information you submit, such as on an appointment request form, is shared only with UCI Health organization personnel who need this information to respond to your question or request. We do not save personal information to use for other purposes, and we do not provide it to any other organizations.

For Android users: required Google Play disclosures for certain health apps
Google requires UCI Health to provide the following privacy policy information regarding use of the My UCI Health mobile app:
- Location services are required to obtain users' current location and provide navigation, both outside of the venue (using GPS) and inside (using Bluetooth beacons).
- Background location services: While the host app is running in the background, location services are used when the user is traveling to the destination, using another app like Google or Waze. The software detects arrival onsite, reminds the user about the inside section of the route and streamlines the transition between outdoor and indoor more quickly, e.g., while a user is at the parking space and wants to save the parking spot for reference.
- Bluetooth scans for and establishes a connect with located Bluetooth beacons to get the precise indoor location.
- Software scans for available Wi-Fi networks to improve the accuracy of its indoor positioning service. Part of this process collects the Wi-Fi SSID/BSSID. We do not save or share the SSID/BSSID.
- Software synchronizes latest data sets and writes non-identifiable de-bug information to local storage on the device. Per Google's own requirements, we do not show a prominent disclosure in versions of Android where scoped storage is used to protect downloaded data.
