High School Volunteer Program

Our High School Volunteer Program is for high school students who are age 16 and over. This program is geared for students who are considering a career in the medical field as well as those who enjoy helping others.

If accepted as a volunteer, you will be assigned one three-hour shift per week, Monday-Friday 4- 7 p.m., and must commit to volunteer a minimum of 75 hours.

Selection process

Selection will be based on:

  • Your application
  • Willingness and ability to make the requested weekly commitment
  • Previous community service experience
  • Educational background and career interests

We apologize in advance if you are not accepted to participate in the program. We have limited positions and unfortunately cannot accept everyone who applies.

Frequently asked questions

  • You must have a medical clearance form completed and signed by your physician
  • You must be able to volunteer for one three-hour shift per week, Monday-Friday
    4-7 p.m.

Volunteers must obtain medical clearance from their personal physician which
includes:

  • Provided documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella and varicella, Tdap vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine series.
  • Provided proof of COVID-19 vaccine with booster.
  • Provided proof of flu vaccination during flu season.
  • Provided record of 2 PPD TB skin tests within one year, the second of which must be within 90 days prior to volunteer start date, or 1 negative QuantiFERON Gold TB test (blood draw) within 90 days prior to volunteer start date.

A uniform is required and can be purchased for $40 (cash only) at your orientation.

The most important requirement to become a volunteer is a friendly, customer- focused attitude. No medical or clinical experience is necessary. Successful volunteers demonstrate a willingness to serve, give back to the community, and provide compassionate support. Strong communication skills are required.
