UCI Health Administrative Internship

Exposure, experience and engagement

The UCI Health Administrative Internship Program is a 12-week experience that aims to develop graduate students with an interest in healthcare administration as future healthcare leaders through immersion in an academic health system. 

Departments across the organization will host interns, providing them with hands-on and action-oriented projects to lead and contribute to. In addition to department-based projects, interns will be able to contribute to organizational goals, participate in learning and development sessions with their cohort and hospital leadership, join networking opportunities and engage in community initiatives.

  • Finance & Value Transformation
  • Nursing
  • Patient Experience
  • Quality
  • Strategic Services
  • Supply Chain
  • Risk Management

Examples of past projects:

  • Discharge education
  • Pro forma and business plan developments 
  • Physician engagement and education 
  • Patient scheduling and authorization process improvement 
  • Lean Six Sigma dashboard
  • Employee incentive program 
  • Quality rounding and safety compliance at ambulatory sites

Timeline

  • Application Opens: Monday, Dec. 16, 2024
  • Application Closes: Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 
  • Interviews: Feb. 2025
  • Administrative Internship Program Begins: Monday, May 19, 2025
  • Administrative Internship Program Ends: Friday, Aug. 8, 2025

Required qualifications

Graduate-level students interested in healthcare administration and currently enrolled in or admitted to an academic program (MHA, MPH, MBA or other closely related degree).
