Dr. Yesim Yilmaz Demirdag is a board-certified UCI Health allergist and immunologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of immunodeficiencies in children and adults, as well as asthma, food allergies and eczema in children.
Her clinical interests include urticaria (hives), angioedema (swelling), rhinitis, sinusitis, drug allergies, eosinophilic esophagitis and stinging insect allergies.
Yilmaz Demirdag earned her medical degree at Akdeniz University School of Medicine in Antalya, Turkey. She completed residencies in pediatrics at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, where she completed a fellowship in allergy and immunology. She also received fellowship training in clinical cytogenics at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.
Her research interests include the genetics of primary immune deficiencies, immune deficiencies in chromosomal abnormalities, eczema and food allergies. Before joining UCI Health, she set up and directed the first pediatric and adult primary immune deficiency clinic at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City.
Yilmaz Demirdag, who also speaks Turkish, has devoted herself to providing the best, evidence-based medical care to her patients.
She sees patients in Irvine and Orange.
