Dr. Frank P.K. Hsu is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular, minimally invasive and open skull base surgery. He has extensive expertise in radiosurgery and functional surgery for movement disorders, deep brain stimulation, epilepsy and pain.

He also is highly skilled at treating patients with aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and cavernous malformations, as well as malignant and benign tumors of the brain and spine, including pituitary tumors and meningiomas.

Hsu received his medical degree from the University of Maryland in Bethesda, where he previously earned a PhD in mechanical engineering. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurological surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He completed fellowship training in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. He returned to Oregon Health Sciences University for fellowship training in functional stereotactic and pain surgery.

His research interests are in the biomechanics of cerebral aneurysms, functional neurosurgery and epilepsy.

Before coming to UCI Medical Center, he served as director of functional, cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif..

Hsu, who also speaks Mandarin and Taiwanese, sees patients in Irvine, Orange and Costa Mesa
