Developed 40 years ago by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is the most widely researched and scientifically grounded mindfulness intervention in the world. The program includes intensive training in mindfulness, meditation and body awareness practices. It is effective in helping people deal with stress and anxiety, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic pain, G.I. problems and sleep disorders. Many participants report benefits in their work and home life, including greater awareness, better self-regulation, less reactivity, clearer thinking and improved problem solving and communication.
