Orange, Calif. — Tatyana Popkova, UCI Health chief strategy officer and senior vice president of ambulatory, has been named a chief strategy officer to know by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Her writeup reads:

“Under her leadership, the UCI Health ambulatory network grew by 11% year-over-year in fiscal year 2024 and has doubled in size over the past five years. She played a key role in the $975 million acquisition of the Tenet Pacific Coast Network, expanding the system from 459 to 1,317 beds and significantly increasing access to academic medicine. Additionally, she spearheaded the launch of the UCI Health digital front door in 2023, improving same-day digital care navigation and patient appointment access.”

Popkova, who is currently serving as the community volunteer chair of the 2025 Orange County Go Red for Women movement, leads strategy formulation and execution and oversees network growth and operations of outpatient services at UCI Health, powered by UC Irvine. She also leads strategic project management, marketing, communications, business development and consumer digital strategy.

Her team also spearheads numerous successful sponsorships along with clinical and business collaborations, such as the partnership with Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

Popkova is a longtime advocate for placing the consumer at the heart of healthcare and health system strategy. Advancements like the digital front door have helped thousands of patients receive timely access to expert care.

Popkova’s leadership and vision are also vital in the construction of UCI Health ― Irvine, a $1.3 billion medical campus, the nation’s first to be powered by an all-electric central utilities plant. When the campus opens its acute care hospital in late 2025, it will add an additional 144 beds to one of California’s largest health systems.
