Cancer Survivorship Services
After your cancer treatment finishes, you’ll feel powerfully equipped to manage pain, mood fluctuations and even financial issues.
Survivorship refers to activities that boost your quality of life after your cancer treatment is complete. At UCI Health, our qualified health professionals help you uplift your social, spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Our approach to cancer survivorship services
Life is different after cancer. The truth is, after you stop coming in for cancer treatments, adverse physical reactions can pop up, sometimes even years later. But whether it’s managing pain, remembering to eat whole foods or overcoming depression, we can help.
How we get started
If your cancer treatments are complete, your oncologist or healthcare provider will refer you to your program.
During a comprehensive and holistic interview, we’ll ask how you’re feeling now that you’re finished. Please share any concerns about your mood, social relationships, physical symptoms or spiritual questions.
We may recommend:
- Additional health and cancer screenings
- Bone density management
- Colon cancer screening
- Optimal weight and dietary management
- Medication prescriptions to manage treatment side effects
Who we work with
Depending on what you need, we may refer you to these specialists:
- Social workers
- Psychiatrists
- Nutritionists
- Spiritual counselors
Also, we work collaboratively with the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, which is part of UCI Health.
They provide:
- Acupuncture for improved cellular immunity
- Myofascial release for better blood and oxygen flow
- Massage for decreased stiffness or joint inflammation
- Mind-body techniques to improve emotional resilience
- Exercise and nutrition tips to boost your energy
Why choose UCI Health for cancer survivorship services?
Peer-reviewed, randomized studies show that patients who receive supportive follow-up care report higher rates of well-being
Facing a cancer diagnosis and undergoing a treatment journey is inherently stressful. And patients have a tendency to underreport their challenging symptoms. Don’t suffer in silence—make an after-care plan to relieve stress and manage side effects rather than leave it to chance.
That’s why we created this program.
Engaging with our survivorship program lowers rates of cancer recurrence. Receive cancer screenings and holistic care that supports your social, emotional and physical well-being. Ask your UCI Health oncologist or healthcare provider to give you a referral
