Breast Cancer Screening Services

Research shows that getting your annual mammogram starting at age 40 saves lives. That’s why we make it easy for you to get the breast cancer screening you need, when you need it.

Our approach to breast cancer screening

At UCI Health, our goal is to detect breast cancer as early as possible, when it’s most treatable.

We combine a highly personalized approach to screening with the most advanced breast imaging, including:

  • 3D mammogram, or tomosynthesis, which detects up to 40% more breast cancers than digital mammography, particularly in dense breast tissue.
  • Breast MRI, including 3T MRI, which creates the most accurate images to identify even the smallest breast cancers.
  • Breast ultrasound, including automated breast ultrasound (ABUS).

We also make it easy to schedule your breast cancer screening with:

  • Appointments available within a week at one of our breast centers in Costa Mesa, Irvine, Orange, and Yorba Linda.
  • Convenient online scheduling.

Personalized breast cancer screening

Our UCI Health breast imaging team will work with you to determine the right breast cancer screening plan for you.

This starts with offering you a breast cancer risk assessment, which factors in:

  • Your personal and family health history
  • Whether you’ve used hormone replacement treatment
  • Whether you have dense breast tissue
  • Your race and/or ethnicity

This information helps us determine your personal risk for developing breast cancer. We’ll then recommend a screening plan tailored specifically for you.

Why choose UCI Health for breast cancer screening?

Breast imaging center of excellence

When it comes to accurate breast imaging, it matters where you go and who reads your images. UCI Health uses advanced technology combined with an expert team. This results in the highest quality breast imaging that can detect even the earliest breast cancers. This is just one reason the American College of Radiology designated UCI Health breast centers as comprehensive breast imaging centers (CBIC).

Expertise in breast imaging

Our expert team of breast cancer radiologists are all breast imaging subspecialists. That means they have the highest level of training in breast imaging, and they solely read breast screens. This expertise can give you confidence that your results are as precise and accurate as possible.
