Dr. David Swope is a board-certified UCI Health neurologist who specializes in the treatment of movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease. He directs the UCI Health Parkinson's disease and Movement Disorders Program.
Swope earned his medical degree Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, Calif., where he completed a neurology residency. He completed a fellowship in movement disorders at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He directed movement disorder services at Loma Linda University Medical Center for 15 years before working at New York University and the Mount Sinai Health System in New York.
He has been a principal investigator on numerous clinical studies, including a drug that decreases uncontrolled muscle movements and another that helps restore dopamine levels in the brain.
