IN THE NEWS: Many parents notice that around the 7-to-9-month-old mark, their baby is beginning to show personality.
UCI Health pediatrician Dr. Melitza Cobham-Browne spoke to BabyCenter about the some of the things parents can look forward to during this time.
"Between 7-to-9-months, infants should be able to babble, respond to their own name and understand a few words."
Playtime is also more frequent, and it should be a mix of interactive and independent play, which will help with self-soothing, she says.
Cobham-Browne is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics and speaks English and Spanish and sees patients at UCI Health Pediatric Services. She is a professor and chief of the Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. She is an Orange County Medical Association Physician of Excellence.
