UCI Health — Irvine expected to add 2,500 jobs to economy
Medical complex will expand access to world-class, academic healthcare in south OC
May 11, 2023
IN THE NEWS: UCI Health — Irvine, the 1.2-million-square-foot medical complex under construction at the corner of Jamboree Road and Birch Street, is expected to add 2,500 healthcare and construction jobs to the local economy.
It will also bring the world-class experts at UCI Health closer to where people live in south Orange County, CEO Chad Lefteris told the Orange County Business Journal.
“So many patients must travel to fight traffic. They’ve got enough to worry about. It’s about bringing our experts to you. When you live in south county, you won’t have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get up to Orange.”
Lefteris says the rainy winter has not hindered the construction of the all-electric complex, scheduled to be completed in late 2025.
“In spite of the rain, it’s moving along nicely. We’re managing it wonderfully. It’s right on schedule and on budget.”
