UCI Health among America’s Best Hospitals for 22nd consecutive year
Nationally ranked for cancer, gynecology and senior health services

Orange, Calif. — For the 22nd consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has recognized UCI Medical Center as one of America’s Best Hospitals. The annual rankings recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients and conditions.
This year's report highlights the excellence of UCI Health services in obstetrics and gynecology, No. 24; geriatrics, No. 42, and cancer, No. 46, among similar programs nationally. The UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only cancer program in Orange County ranked among the U.S. News top 50.

UCI Medical Center is ranked No. 6 in the Los Angeles metropolitan region and 13th in California.
U.S. News also rates UCI Health services in gastroenterology (GI) and GI surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology as high performing.
Consistent rankings
Over the last 22 years, UCI Medical Center is the only Orange County hospital consistently recognized among America’s best by U.S. News. The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 33rd year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.

U.S. News methodology
For its 2022-2023 report, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. In the 16 adult specialty areas, 165 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings for the state and the Los Angeles metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
