IN THE NEWS: Most transplanted kidneys come from people whose organs were donated upon death. Living kidney donations offer significant advantages: They have a lower risk of rejection and they function better and longer than kidneys from deceased donors. KTLA5 News interviewed UCI Health patient Erin Cornell about her search for a living donor while UCI Health transplant nephrologist Dr. Uttam Reddy discussed why a living donor may be the best choice for someone in need of a transplant.
