IN THE NEWS: The Orange County Register’s iPad edition featured UC Irvine’s iMedEd initiative in its Nov. 9 download:
UC Irvine is moving toward focused, small group sessions with students and podcasted lectures, said Dr. Warren Wiechmann, director of instructional technologies.
“There’s been a shift among medical educators in the past couple of years to get away from the traditional lecture hall…” he said. “It really forced us to ask a lot of questions about our curriculum.”
UC Irvine was the country’s first medical school to launch an iPad initiative, called iMedEd, providing medical students with tablets loaded with all of the materials they will need.
