LINX® Procedure for GERD
Our approach to LINX treatment for GERD
You don’t have to live with GERD or rely on medication for life. UCI Health’s esophageal disease experts work with you to create a personalized care plan that prioritizes your health and quality of life.
Our GERD specialists at UCI Health focus on your long-term well-being, customizing treatments to fit your needs. With a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, your doctor works closely with specialists to determine the best treatment for your unique case.
How the LINX device is used
Unlike traditional GERD surgeries, the minimally invasive LINX treatment uses a small bracelet made of magnetic titanium beads to surround and tighten the lower esophageal sphincter. This valve normally prevents stomach fluids from refluxing into the esophagus.
The magnetic beads help keep the valve closed, preventing stomach pressure from opening it. The bracelet is flexible, allowing the beads to expand as needed when you swallow, while still letting food pass into the stomach.
