Dr. Thuy Tran is a board-certified UCI Health surgeon who is fellowship trained in surgical oncology.
Her clinical interests include melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma and other cutaneous malignancies, as well as soft tissue tumors and soft tissue sarcomas.
Tran earned her medical degree at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. She completed an internship in general surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship in surgical oncology at Stanford University's School of Medicine. Next, she completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, followed by fellowship training in complex general surgical oncology at City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, Calif.
She is the author or co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts in prestigious journals such as Annals of Surgery, JAMA Surgery and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. She also has presented her research at national and international conferences, including the American Surgical Association, Pacific Coast Surgical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Western Surgical Association. Her research interests include surgical clinical trials, health disparities and gaps in the care delivery, as well as patient-reported cancer outcomes.
Tran, who is also fluent in Vietnamese, sees patients in Orange, Laguna Hills and Yorba Linda.
