Dr. Sebastian Schubl is a board-certified UCI Health trauma and critical care surgeon who specializes in all aspects of care for injured patients. His focus is treating complex intensive care unit patients. His clinical interests include sepsis, surgical infections, chest trauma and rib fracture stabilization, and minimally invasive hernia repair.

He serves as director of medical operations for UCI Health.

Schubl received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He completed general surgical residencies at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, both in New York City, before completing a surgical critical care fellowship at the UCI School of Medicine.

His research interests focus on rib injury, surgical infections and necrotizing soft tissue infections, as well as translational work on trauma patient outcomes.
