Urology
Dr. Melvin L. Seard II is a board-certified UCI Health urologist whose focus is on patient care and advocacy, particularly for patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Seard earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif., followed by an internship in general surgery at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He completed residencies in urology at White Memorial Medical Center and the Keck School of Medicine at USC, both in Los Angeles.
Before joining UCI Health, Seard practiced at the Talbert Medical Group in Fountain Valley, where he held several leadership positions, including chief of staff, chair of Urology and chair of Surgery. After 18 years of practice in Southern California, he relocated to Nashville, Tenn., where he practiced with Urology Associates of Nashville Inc., the largest urology group in Tennessee. He has been the recipient of several awards including Physician of the Year and, most recently, the Frist Humanitarian Physician Award.
Seard has assisted in training residents and physicians on various urologic treatments and procedures, helped to standardize patient care protocols and improve overall clinical structure and quality. He also is passionate about patient education, with a focus on community outreach and patient health advocacy for urologic conditions, particularly prostate cancer.
