Dr. Hakan Sahin is a board-certified UCI Health diagnostic radiologist who specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging. His clinical and research interests include interstitial lung diseases, lung cancer screening and cardiovascular manifestations of metabolic syndrome.
He earned his medical degree at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Akdeniz Universities Faculties of Medicine, also in Turkey. He completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic imaging at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colo. He also completed fellowships in magnetic resonance imaging at the University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas and in clinical quality and safety at the VA San Diego Healthcare System.
Before joining UCI Health and the UCI School of Medicine, Sahain served as a radiology faculty leader at several institutions, including the VA in San Diego and the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y.
He is board certified in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as well as in computerized tomography CT). He is an member of multiple professional organizations and committees, including the Society of Thoracic Radiology, the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging and the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
Sahin, who is also fluent in Turkish, sees patients at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
