Dr. Donny W. Suh is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.
He earned his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed an ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute in Milwaukee, followed by a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medicine's Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, Md.
Suh comes to UCI Health from Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., where he served as chief of ophthalmology. He is chief of pediatric ophthalmology for the UCI Health Gavin Herbert Eye Institute.
His research is focused on pediatric eye conditions and developing devices to improve safety and precision during eye surgery. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in major journals, as well as chapters in major textbooks. As a longtime member and current chair-elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics, he has helped establish guidelines for pediatric eye care. He also has volunteered on medical missions to provide eye care and train local physicians in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America since 2000.
Suh, who speaks Korean and some Spanish, sees patients in Irvine and Orange.
