Dr. Vivek R. Patel is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus. As chief of neuro-ophthalmology services, he brings considerable experience and expertise to the clinical and surgical management of visual pathway disorders.

Patel earned his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, followed by an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Quebec. He subsequently completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine at USC in Los Angeles.

Internationally recognized for his clinical and teaching accomplishments, he has authored dozens of peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of one of the central textbooks in neuro-ophthalmology, Walsh & Hoyt's Clinical Neuro-Ophthalmology: The Essentials, third and fourth editions.
