Dr. Soroosh Behshad is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery.

He earned his medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he was chief resident, followed by fellowship training in cornea, refractive and anterior segment surgery at the UCI School of Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology. He also holds a master’s degree in public health policy and healthcare management from the University of Arizona.

Behshad is active within global ophthalmology and international humanitarian programs, performing specialized eye surgeries and training doctors around the world on cataract and corneal surgical techniques. He has worked with international hospitals and ministries of health to develop national eye care plans in developing countries. He is also faculty with Orbis, the flying eye hospital, and is involved with blindness prevention programs in Ethiopia. In 2020, he was recognized by the Kingdom of Jordan for his service and work developing a sustainable eye care program for Syrian refugees.

His research interests include keratoconus, pediatric corneal collagen crosslinking, severe ocular surface disease including ocular graft versus host disease, mucous membrane pemphigoid, limbal stem cell deficiency and dry eye.

Behshad, who also speaks Persian (Farsi) and Spanish, sees patients in Irvine and Orange.
