Dr. Baruch D. Kuppermann is board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in macular degeneration, eye inflammation and retina and vitreous surgery.
He earned his medical degree at the University of Miami in Florida and PhD in neuroscience at the California Institute of Technology. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Southern California’s Doheny Eye Institute, followed by fellowships in retina and vitreous surgery at St. Joseph Medical Center in Baltimore, Md., and UC San Diego.
Kupperman's research focus is on the toxicity of drugs on retinal cells and has conducted many clinical trials to evaluate new drugs and technologies for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion. He is also active in the development of drug delivery systems for the posterior eye segment in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Irvine.
He has been recognized as among the Best Doctors in America® and has been repeatedly named a Physician of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association for nearly a decade.
