Receive two Angels tickets when you step up to the plate and donate blood

UCI Health and Angels team up to support Orange County’s only Level 1 trauma center

When you donate blood to UCI Health, you are helping patients who have been critically injured or who are fighting life-threatening diseases like cancer. You’ll also receive two tickets to a future Angels game.

Visit the UCI Health Bloodmobile at the main entrance to Angel Stadium, near the two red helmets, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:

• June 10 – At the UC Irvine Anti-Cancer Challenge at Angel Stadium (special hours, noon-6pm)
• June 13 & 28
• July 8 & 27
• Aug. 10, 18 & 31
• Sept. 7

Each voucher can be exchanged at the stadium box office for a free ticket to a future Angels game, valid while supplies last. Appointments are limited. Click HERE to make your appointment. Complete the online form with a valid email address and submit it.

UC Irvine Medical Center annually treats more than half of the county’s trauma victims and transfuses approximately 1,000 units of blood to our patients each month. These blood drives will help meet the needs of the patients during the summer months when blood shortages often occur. 

Donors must be at least 17 years old and may give blood only once every 56 days. They should be prepared to spend 45 minutes or so at the stadium on the day they donate.

After donating, participants can walk to the ticket booth and exchange their vouchers for game tickets. The Angels have set aside certain sections from which to choose seats. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday when the Angels are out of town or not playing, and until the seventh inning on game days.

Please note: Due to construction near the stadium, donors must enter the parking lot from World Champion Way, off Orangewood Avenue and just past the normal entrance.

Who can donate?

To donate blood, you must:

• Be age 17 or older and weigh more than 110 pounds
• New this year: All 17-year old donors are required to bring a consent form signed by their parent or guardian. If you are 17, please email tbarrett@uci.edu and a consent form will be emailed to you. If a parent will be attending the blood drive, you can pick up one up there.
• Have a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, employee or student ID are acceptable)
• Be in good health
• Eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating
• Finish all antibiotics 72 hours before your donation and be symptom-free of any infection or illness
• Have had no tattoos in the past 12 months
• Have had no piercings within the last 12 months. Ear piercings done with a sterile piercing gun are okay.
• Not have traveled to an area where malaria is endemic in the past 12 months
• You will also be asked to provide basic information and answer questions related to your medical history and lifestyle.
