Our UCI Health memory disorders specialists diagnose dementia using neurologic exams, neuropsychological testing and brain imaging, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scans. Each patient receives highly personalized care.
When appropriate, patients have access to leading-edge techniques to assist with diagnosis, such as a lumbar puncture or a positron emission tomography (PET) scan that is performed in combination with the drug Amyvid to determine whether amyloid plaque is present.
As clinicians and researchers, we also are committed to studying memory disorders and to matching interested patients to research opportunities at UCI Health and throughout the region.
We work closely with UCI Health physicians at the SeniorHealth Center and elsewhere to ensure that each patient receives individualized care for all their needs.
